Join the Board!
Shape the Cybersecurity Student world of the Netherlands
Cybersecurity is increasingly complex, and many students find it challenging to break into the field and advance their careers. That's why StudSec was created; to build a safe environment where students can learn, grow, and connect.
Since our founding in 2021, StudSec has brought together over 400 students, hosting weekly events, workshops, and networking opportunities with industry professionals. Many students have now connected, played CTFs, gotten career opportunities and developed their academic skills through all of these events. Together, we've created a community that supports personal development and diversity through frequent collaborations.
Why Join the StudSec Board?
As a board member, you’ll be at the forefront of this association, driving our mission forward, gaining invaluable experience in leadership, event management, and professional networking. Plus, you'll help create an even better environment for future students.

▶️ Have a passion for cybersecurity and a desire to inspire others
▶️ Want to develop leadership, teamwork, and organizational skills

What Does the Transition Process Look Like?
In March, we will hold General Assembly III (GA III), where the new board will be formally introduced and voted in. After this, you will be the incoming board and start attending board meetings alongside the outgoing board.
🔹 May 1st – The incoming board officially takes over and begins functioning independently.
🔹 June (GA IV) – The outgoing board is formally discharged, but will remain available for guidance during the transition period.
Things to Consider Before Applying:
✅ We are a young organisation. As the first board, we have laid a strong foundation, but there’s still a lot of flexibility for you to shape StudSec’s future. However, this also means there isn’t as much structure to fall back on compared to older associations.
✅ Physical presence is important. You will be expected to attend the majority of StudSec events, meaning you cannot combine a board year with an exchange abroad.
✅ We value a diverse skill set. A successful board isn’t made up of individuals who can do everything. We are looking for people with various strengths that can collaborate and bring their best forward. That's why (not) having a specific expertise isn't a limiting factor!
✅ You will be a key point of contact. As a board member, you will be one of the first people members approach with questions and ideas regarding StudSec.
What’s in It for You?
Being on the StudSec board is an incredible opportunity to develop skills in:
✔️ Leadership & Organization – Gain hands-on experience in managing a student association.
✔️ Networking – Connect with industry professionals, sponsors, and fellow students.
✔️ Strategic Thinking – Learn how to plan events, manage budgets, and set long-term goals.
✔️ Teamwork & Problem-Solving – Work closely with other motivated individuals to keep the association running smoothly.
Additionally, this experience will stand out on your resume, showcasing your ability to lead, organize, and execute initiatives.
